INNOVATIONS IN TEXTILE AND PRINT

The Morley Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of the works of textile artist, printmaker and teacher, Tadek Beutlich, in collaboration with Emma Mason Gallery.

This exhibition covers work from over 60 years of making and showcases Beutlich’s creativity and versatility in textile art, weaving, fibre art and printmaking. Much of the work in the exhibition is from the family archive and has not been exhibited before and many pieces will be for sale.

About the artist:

Tadek Beutlich is known as a weaver of textile constructions and extraordinary tapestries and for his large and very striking relief prints, printed in the 1960s and 1970s. Tadek printed his prints without a press and many were printed for the print publishers, Editions Alecto. Originally from Poland, Tadek studied at art school in Poznan and later studied in Germany and Italy before graduating from Camberwell School of Art and Crafts, London in 1950. He subsequently taught at Camberwell from 1951 to 1974. He lived for many years in Ditchling in Sussex and then in Spain before returning to the UK to live in Kent. His work is held in many collections including the V&A Museum and Tate, London.
