PAREIDOLIA

Celia Mora and Emily Woolley, current Zsuzsi Roboz Scholars, present an interim show exploring the body and its experiences. Celia uses classical oil technique and still life to disrupt visual conventions, redefining portrayals of the male body and gaze while revealing overlooked narratives. Emily creates sculptures and installations referencing chainmail worn under jousting armor, crafted from tongue-knotted cherry stems—objects rooted in southern bar culture and later claimed by pop culture as markers of women’s desirability. Together, they explore shifting performances of gender and intimacy.
