Clay’s agency has a deep impact on its creation into art, while clay’s innate qualities can both lead to inspiration and inhibit it. Clay’s easy malleability means that initially anyone can instantly create with clay, but beyond a point, it becomes highly technical and very difficult to create a finished form. It requires patience and years of study to collaborate with it. This exhibition offers both a celebration of, and an insight into, the skill behind the works created by the Ceramics Department at Morley’s Waterloo Centre.
