CERAMICS AT WATERLOO

‘Reset’ is the title for our group project this year in the Ceramics department.​

2021 is the 70th anniversary of the Festival Of Britain, a secular state festival in which the Labour government set out to present the ideals and goals of a new post-war society. The festival celebrated innovations in design, science and technology and drew heavily on European Modernism. Advances in science were celebrated and today, our hopes for a vaccine and effective virus treatments run parallel.​

Students have been asked to reflect on their hopes for the future and to use the inspirational Festival of Britain for reference as a starting point, where there is a richness of surface design and form with which to draw on. Here are some examples of their research, which demonstrate their thoughts and plans at the start of their projects.
