I use ceramics to express my feelings about my environment both natural and manmade and the people that live in it.

The cubes are about the contrast between the impersonality of the city of immense glass buildings and the people on the streets below them.  Heads are carved out of rough crank clay while shiny, smooth glazed surfaces and sharp edged cubes represent the glass walls and geometric form of the buildings.  The work is on a small scale so it can be held in the hand and the heaviness or lightness of the pieces is an important part of their impact.

The nesting pieces are vessels and forms that fit together like puzzles.  They bring sensory experiences; brightness, colour, darkness, softness, shininess, grittiness, lightness and heaviness.  They are inspired by memories like touching soft new leaves or the pleasure of handling dice and other game pieces as a child.
